Founded in March of 1966, Sigma Nu Sigma began with a simple but powerful vision: a group of young women committed to loving others well and building meaningful community. Nestled within Lee University, a small Christian liberal arts college in Cleveland, Tennessee, that vision has continued to grow into something far greater than its founders could have imagined.
Rooted in the truth of 1 Corinthians 13, our club is guided by a call to live out love—not just in words, but through action. Whether serving our campus, partnering with local organizations, or supporting one another in everyday life, Sigma strives to reflect Christ’s love both near and far.
Though Cleveland may seem like a small town, the impact of Sigma Nu Sigma reaches far beyond it. Through the dedication of our sisters and the support of our big brothers, our legacy continues to expand across generations. Our alumni carry with them the same heart for service and connection that defines our club today.
At its core, the women of Sigma Nu Sigma are here to serve. We are committed to benefiting our church, school, and community through acts of charity and the practical application of Christian character. We encourage one another—and the student body as a whole—to pursue lives marked by kindness, generosity, and intentional care for others. At the same time, we believe deeply in creating spaces for joy, fellowship, and genuine connection.
What makes Sigma truly special, however, cannot be fully captured in a mission statement. It is found in the relationships built here. Within this sisterhood, friendships are formed that feel less like chance and more like calling—bonds rooted not in blood, but in love. While college may last only a few years, the community found in Sigma Nu Sigma extends far beyond graduation, offering a lifetime of encouragement, support, and belonging.
As we continue to build on the strong foundation laid before us, we remain dedicated to serving Lee University and the surrounding community with the same passion and purpose that began in 1966. We are honored to share even a small glimpse of the sisterhood that makes Sigma Nu Sigma so meaningful—and we look forward to the story still being written.
